Really enjoyed sculpting this in VR on the Quest 2. If you wear glasses like me, prescription lenses on the headset make all the difference for comfort.
I used a 2D Niagara gas fire in Unreal attached to the candles. The simulation then just reacts to any animation of the scene. Made a simple IK rig in 3ds Max for the looping anim.
Added some creaky sound effects in Premiere to give him a little mood.
